Realist and Fantasy Painter

Martha A. Liebert

As a young child Martha always loved making beautiful things. Taking classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Saturday mornings, she began to develop her artistic skills. Although her high school offered classes in art she ended up having to teach herself since the teachers and curriculum were less than adequate.

After high school she enrolled in the Cleveland Institute of Art. In her second year of studies her instructors didn’t think she had what it takes to become an artist, yet they allowed her to stay on because she worked so hard. Their gamble paid off as Martha developed a rich and prolific career in art.

Martha produces works in watercolors, acrylics, oils, glass and ceramics. She has experience creating portraits, landscapes, fantasy art, jewelry, commercial art, sculpture, and even dolls. She loves being inventive with her art style and changing mediums.

She grew up and spent most of her life in the Cleveland area. She was an active member in Studio West, a collaboration of local artists in Northeast Ohio, and a member of the Ohio Realist Group.

Married for 47 wonderful years to Curt, a NASA scientist, with whom she had three daughters who have all followed in her footsteps to become artists. She now lives with her granddaughter in Hammonton, NJ.
